Unfortunately, this organization does not have any active opportunities at the moment. However, there are other ways to get involved with the United Methodist Church. Through programs such as United Methodist Volunteers in Mission and the Missionary Volunteer program of the General Board of Global Ministries, every person in the church has the opportunity to serve and live their calling more faithfully. Tatiana Kolchanova, a world-class church congregant and musician who moved to the United States 10 years ago and founded the Camas United Methodist Church just over three years ago, agrees with this assessment.
She says that from the moment she walked into the sanctuary of the United Methodist Church, built in the 1950s to amplify sound and turn it into a perfect space for a lifelong musician, she knew she had found her home in the church. The pastor of Camas United Methodist Church, Fairhurst, says Boyd and Kolchanova are perfect examples of the type of people who find their home in the church. He has been a pastor there for three years, but Boyd, who was part of the church's congregation for nearly four years before Fairhurst arrived, says the new pastor brought the church a sense of being able to get things done. The Camas United Methodist Church is renowned for its many volunteer opportunities. It sponsors an annual Movies in the Park event every year for the past 10 years; and hosts an annual blueberry pancake breakfast, which requires an extraordinary number of volunteers to serve hundreds of blueberry pancakes made with blueberries from Congregant Vicki Duchesneau's Valley View blueberry farm, in order to raise funds for the annual movies event in the park. Fairhurst says she feels fortunate to be part of Camas United Methodist Church and that the congregation was ready to expand its reach in the community when it arrived three years ago. Volunteering is an excellent way to make a difference in your community and live your calling more faithfully.
