Come worship with us!

Pastor John Ritenour and the congregation welcome you.

Worship is held each Sunday at 10:00 a.m. at the Senior Center in Boulder City.  Join us for traditional hymns, scriptures and Communion each week. If you are new to our congregation, we ask that you fill out a visitor form as you come in. Give us as much or as little information as you wish. Pastor John and Kitty would like to meet with you to answer any questions you may have about our church and our beliefs. If you would like to be added to our mailing list for newsletters and cards, please check the box and make sure you put down your email address for up-to-the-minute announcements.

We celebrate the Sacrament of Communion each Sunday, and on the first Sunday of the month we have a more formal Communion from the United Methodist Hymnal. In the United Methodist tradition, all are welcome at the Communion table. We are guided by the usher to the Communion elements, where we break a piece of bread from the communal loaf and then dip it in the cup, receiving the blessings of the liturgist and pastor.

Pastor John is assisted each week by a liturgist, a member of the church who has committed to serving one or two months per year. The liturgist leads the congregation in the opening of our service, congregational prayer, hymns of Affirmation and Preparation, and receives the weekly offering. Scriptures, chosen by the pastor, are read by the liturgist prior to the message.

During the worship service, Pastor John offers a time for prayer. He will open with prayer and then invite members of the congregation to voice their prayer concerns (or pray silently, as the spirit guides ), and then he will close in prayer. A prayer request form is available at the usher's table and will be given to the Prayer Group for directed prayer at their weekly meeting.

After worship please stay for our Followship time, a time to greet old friends and meet new ones. Altar flowers and Followship refreshments are provided by volunteers in the congregation. The second Sunday of each month we hold our monthly Potluck lunch. The congregation is asked to bring a food dish to share (and if you forget, there is always plenty to go around). An offering box is available - money goes to our Building Fund. Traditionally, we give as much as we might pay for going out to Sunday Brunch, but of course, it is a free will offering and you may give as much or as little as you wish. Just don't miss the food!

This is just a sampling of what our worship is about. Of course, first and foremost is the place Jesus has in our hearts, minds and lives. We are traditional in our beliefs, but very aware of today's challenges and how our Christian faith will serve us in our lives.

See you in church!
