Church Picnic On Our Own Land
Church Picnic On Our Own Land

"They devoted themselves to the apostles’ teaching and fellowship, to the breaking of bread and the prayers." - Acts 2:42

With our congregation growing to more than 60 from our original 20, we still retain a small-church feeling in which we all know each other. One way we do this is through the fellowship of eating together. After Sunday service, we provide coffee and punch, sweets and fruit, and a time to share conversation with each other.

The first Sunday of each month we celebrate birthdays with a cake and a song, and if it's your birthday month, you get to help cut the cake (and get one of the first pieces). The second Sunday of each month we hold a potluck lunch after service, an opportunity to enjoy the cooking talents of so many of our members along with the camaraderie of sharing a meal. We hold a barbeque once a year, and a Christmas party with a $5 or less white-elephant gift exchange. Through these events, we become caring friends for those new to us, and keep up with our old friends. Please check the EVENTS tab for specific events coming up.

We also plan extra get-togethers throughout the year, such as annual river raft trips, desert hikes, book discussions, and hymn sings. Our women's guild, Church Women Unite(d), meets monthly while the men of the church share a potluck dinner at a neighboring home. A prayer group meets once a week at our pastor's house for designated prayer with the Lord. We have a caring ministry to visit congregants in the hospital or in special times of need. We will also provide transportation for those who need a ride to and from church. And recently we have formed a Care Group Ministry. The members of the group will be available to each and every member of our congregation for special needs in the way of prayer or worldly assistance in any circumstance. We want each member of our congregation to know that he or she is loved and not alone in this world. We want to be there for each other.

These are just a few of the Fellowship opportunities at Boulder City United Methodist Church. Along with the events already mentioned, members of the committee also provide flowers for special occasions, maintain the history of the church, contact visitors and do the many things that make us the “family” that is our church.
